Pakistan releases AQ Khan

posted by Aziz Poonawalla

It is true that Osama bin Laden is the most wanted terrorist alive. But someday, a terrorist attack will occur that will make OBL’s lifetime achievements pale in comparison, because it will use a nuclear weapon. When thta day comes, it will be directly attributable to one man: Abdul Qadeer Khan, the father of Pakistan’s nuclear bomb and the leader of a clandestine network that sold nuclear secrets to other nations that sponsor, support and/or harbor terroist groups. It is this man, AQ Khan, who was released by Pakistan from house arrest yesterday.

A court in Pakistan
has ended the house arrest of Abdul Qadeer Khan, a scientist who
admitted selling nuclear secrets to Iran, North Korea and Libya.

A UN nuclear watchdog report
said last year that Khan’s network had smuggled nuclear blueprints to
Iran, Libya and North Korea and was active in 12 countries.

Khan said he was proud of what he had done for Pakistan, and that he had no need to answer to any foreign government.

“I will always be proud about what I did for Pakistan,” he said.

I don’t know how this man can sleep at night, knowing what he has unleashed. Then again, his statement about being “proud” for what he did – not for Pakistan, but in the long run, to Pakistan, suggests that for all his technical brilliance, he is a very stupid man indeed.

Indeed. If a nuclear weapon is detonated in any US city, or even in a British city, Pakistan will end up suffering far more than the US or Britain did.
Here is a detailed article on the extremely high risks that Pakistan’s situation poses.

This guy would probably make a good contender in a “dead pool”. It is obvious that he will continue to support proliferation of nuclear arms. He will be taken out by some government that considers him a threat–maybe Pakistan.

If a nuke is ever detonated by terrorists, I fervently hope that Pakistan is reduced to one giant smoldering crater, so irradiated and befouled that no living creature can set foot in it for 10,000 years.
They’ve got it coming to them, but good.

Khan is the perfect example of the banality of evil. He believes he did something righteous for Pakistan, but in reality, he unleashed a monster upon the world, and Pakistan will probably be the second to pay the price. There’s no stopping nuclear proliferation now, not that there ever was, but at least it might have been delayed for a generation or two, giving us time to work out the most contentious differences. Let us hope for the existence of Hell, and let us hope A.Q. Khan will soon be a favored resident.

They were involved in 9/11 attacks. Their government employee nuclear scientist is a proliferator. They took billions on the name of fight against terror they supported extremists and Taliban to take resort on their land during Musharraf’s own reign. And we still believe they are not our enemy? What the hell our senators are up to? Do they want to give aid to enemies in the name of fight against terror? I believe the whole world must be laughing upon us. I’m shocked!
I believe Khan is being released in some terrorist pressure from Talibans or Al-queda… And no one will admit that, will anyone? I believe he may have some real strategic mission now… What’s the need of releasing that international culprit at these moments? I believe the whole world should keep an eye on him before he escapes to Osama in unknowns and then even his cellphone will be unreachable!
What if they attack us with new bombs! Gosh! May god save us from evil hands.
