It’s Okay to Be Happy

posted by Jennifer E. Jones

For being an Inspiration Editor and generally content person, I’m always surprised at how pessimistic I can be.

As mentioned earlier, November was a rough month for me. However, in a miraculous way that I can only describe as an early Christmas gift from God, December has been pure delight. Many things that fell apart actually cleared the way for something better.

So of course, I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Don’t you hate it when that happens? Life looks wonderful, so you feel yourself worrying about what’s coming around the corner. It’s enough to steal your present joy away.

You can spoil your own good time with a pessimistic attitude. Looking at life as though every joy isn’t authentic (or worst yet, that it will be immediately followed by pain) is self-defeating. Before long, you’re looking for trouble in paradise and whatever beauty that’s in front of you gets lost.

If no one else ever tells you this, let me be the first.

It’s okay to be happy.

Go ahead. Smile. Enjoy this moment. You’re having a good day. Your boss gave you kudos. You met someone special. Whatever the reason is… it’s okay to revel in the mystery of goodness.

Life is a series of happy and sad times. Ride the waves and experience them all to the fullest. And remember that, some times, some things are so good that they just might be true.

The Problem with Pain
I’ve heard people say, “How do I get over something if it still hurts?” And yes, forgiveness is key, whether it’s aimed towards yourself or someone else. However, it’s not really the main issue. What people really want to know is, “How do I deal with the pain?” The problem with pain
