Tonight Casey Abrams came in last in votes on American Idol – but he didn’t go home. The judges invoked their one save of the season with 11 contestants left, and they did it without even hearing 30 seconds of Abram’s swan song. Sharing the bottom two with Casey was Stefano Langone, and when it was revealed that Casey received the lowest number of votes he looked more surprised than anyone. The entire sequence was the most dramatic of this young Idol season – full of tears, obvious pain, and censored profanity.
I for one am glad to see Casey stay. While his last two performances haven’t been top-notch, Casey is one of the most seasoned and interesting performers on the show. He took a big risk last week with the Nirvana cover, and I figured if he could survive that then he could survive anything. I guess I was wrong. It would have been a shame to see him go home, and I am completely shocked that he was the lowest vote getter. Really, America? Really?? This would have been up there with Chris Daughtry or Jennifer Hudson getting dropped early, and is just a reminder that for a lot of voters Idol isn’t really a singing competition at all.
Remember when Kris Allen beat out Adam Lambert? Casey being last is as crazy as that was.

I am a friend to Haley’s parents. Every year we see her at the anual Christmas party and I have heard her sing for years. Our circle of friends are all great musicians and singers in the Chicago land area. She is great and I am happy she will be on the tour. She is a great person with a great voice and she’s got the looks!!

I couldn’t believe it. If they would not have saved him, I would have stopped watching for the season. I’ve done it before in disgust. As far as singing is concerned and having to rate them, he would NOT be in the bottom three. Hey, I’m being honest. You don’t see me trying out. It’s because I know I can’t sing. This is not a popularity contest where we are voting for the cutest outfit of the night people.

I have to watch the show for this blog so I wouldn’t be able to quit watching, but man would I want to! I quit watching the year Jennifer Hudson was voted off. I couldn’t name 1 of the other contestants from that season now.
That’s really neat about Haley! I hope that she can find her genre on the show. It’s clear she’s talented, but I am ready to hear the right style match.

I didnt like Adam Lambert..but I like Phil a lot…very much..I am not too crazy about the female performers…the men are really good this year .. its a hard choice…I think Phil will make it he’s handsome and talented…I think the voters look for that more than the voice. And its hard this time because all the performers now are really good…hard choices to make so its probably on looks and attitude from now on…

Even if looks are a huge factor (I don’t think they should be) I still don’t see how Casey ends up in last place. I’m not a great judge of male sex appeal though.

I mustsay that a lot of americans are caught up in looks more than talent,…. and Im do agree with a pervious comment,.. that this year the kids are all bery talented and when it is like that ,….you must look for what breaks the ties,… and being an american Idol,..is and has always been also based upon looks ,…sex appeal,..and how they come across to the public,… so I see no problem in people using all of the individuals talents to make thier choic,…. good luck to every one of them,…..

I agree that they should have saved him. He is awesome and very different and I do think he is a handsome guy, not Rock Hudson handsome, but there are different kinds of handsome. I thought he was going to pass out on the stage for a minute there though.

I know! My first thought was that he may end up in the hospital again.
Hopefully this will wake him up a little though, his last two performances weren’t his best.
